
Leona Louise Lewis (born on April 3, 1985) is a British singer, songwriter actor, activist and actress. She was born and raised in the London Borough of Islington and took classes at Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis gained national attention as she was selected for the third and final season on The X Factor 2006 and won a contract worth one million pounds through Syco music. The song she was awarded in the contest, which was a cover the song of Kelly Clarkson "A Moment like This" recorded 50,000 downloads in thirty minutes and peaked at number 1 for four weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5 album deal in February 2007. Lewis's success continued with the release of her first Studio album Spirit (2007), that was certified platinum 10x in the UK and was subsequently the fourth best-selling album of the decade and among the top-selling albums of UK chart history. Spirit According to Official Charts Company is the greatest-selling debut album by a female singer. The top UK single, Bleeding Love, remained at no. 1 for seven weeks before becoming the biggest-seller of 2007, in the eyes of the Official charts company. In the US, it was the best-selling single of the year and Lewis was named Best New Artist by Billboard the same year. Echo was her sophomore studio album. The album also featured the track "I I See You" to accompany Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide", a collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii as well as her debut extended-play, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) was Lewis's three studio albums. It was an exciting and fresh trend. Lewis draws inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. She began to record material for her debut Christmas album while on her Glassheart Tour, which took place in mid 2013. The album Christmas, With Love came out in the latter half of 2013. Its lead single One More Sleep peaked at number 3 across the UK. The chart's entry was what made Lewis her the only British woman solo artist to reach the top 5 spots, having eight singles. The singer also broke the record set by Olivia Newton-John with seven songs.
